The lyrics, written by Edward Perronet, first appeared in the November, 1779 issue of the Gospel Magazine (which was edited by the author of "Rock of Ages", Augustus Toplady). While Bing Crosby's 1951 version is the standard by which all other recordings of the tune are measured, we are showing a modern take from 2014, by the A Cappella group the Newsboys.
